According to Medieval Bestiaries, the Leucrota is the swiftest of wild animals. It is a composite animal with the head of a badger, the chest and front legs of a lion, the hindquarters and cloven hooves of a stag, and a mouth that stretches from ear to ear lined with a single row of bone.
Why a Leucrota?
Well, because we’re different. We’re proud of our uniqueness, running ahead of the pack in innovative ideas and social concepts, testing limits and working with authors and topics that many larger, conservative houses won’t touch. While we are a smaller house in size, we are by no means lacking in any division with dedicated marketing and sales staff, as well as experienced editors and graphic designers ready to work day or night to make the chosen books the success stories they all deserve to be.
Leucrota Press began as an idea in 2006, and became a reality in 2007. Just over a year old in the publishing business, our professional staff is in the process of producing a new wave of unique and entertaining books. All staff members are authors or artists themselves – so we know what it’s like to be on both sides of the publishing spectrum, and our mission is to guide authors away from the dreaded slush pile and onto the bookshelves.
LP is an independent press that publishes science fiction, fantasy, horror, and graphic novels of the highest quality. We work with both new and established authors, agented or not, only considering those exceptional works that survive the rigorous first cut by our proactive editorial board. All of our books are treated with the respect and care they deserve – from the friendly and instructive editor-author interactions to the beautiful custom artwork and setting up marketing plans and local book signings.
And unlike many of the larger houses that use form rejection letters giving no insight or indication as to why the book was declined, we promise to provide personalized feedback on why we felt your book wasn’t ready, many times even editing or commenting on the first few pages of your submission packets to give a little nudge in the right direction. We do this in the hope that you will better understand the writing process, to help you better yourself as a writer, and to keep open the communication lines betweed editors and writers that lately seems to have dissapated. Yes, we plan on changing that.
