Marlo wrote for his university newspaper, Ka Leo O Hawaii, for two years after reading a movie review in it and deciding he could do better. He then spent a year as the Features Editor and another as the Managing Editor, vigorously using up all the red ink he could while trying to make sure the mistakes wouldn’t be made in the first place.
After graduating with a bachelor’s in political science and a minor in speech, Marlo planned and went on a month and a half long vacation. Nineteen of those days were spent walking halfway across Spain carrying 30-40 pounds of gear on a pilgrimage he decided to do for fun and adventure. Lots of mountains and rainy days were involved. When he got back from his trip, he started working with an old buddy from Ka Leo, writing comics for their Web site: poorboycomic.com.
